Seimei (清明) is our junior shinai made specifically for our younger kendo friends. Made shorter and lighter, according to specs and regulations, so that our juniors can enjoy their kendo, and develop proper techniques and form before advancing into the longer and heavier shinai when they get older. Juniors in elementary school or kindergarten ages should not be using long sizes which can even hurt their tender shoulders, elbows, and wrists. The burden of using longer and heavier shinai can even develop a hate for Kendo. Please contact us if you are not sure about what size your child needs to use. We will help you choose the correct size shinai.
Our junior shinai is made with high -quality keichiku bamboo, is unisex, and is available in sizes 24, 26, 28, 30, 32, 34, 36, and 37.

SHINAI SIZE REGULATION BY AGE
12 years and younger (Elementary school and below)
- Size 24, 26, 28, 30, 32. 34, or 36
- Depends on the height of the child
Ages 12 - 15 years (MIDDLE SCHOOL)

Ages 15 - 18 years (HIGH SCHOOL)

For Men
- Size 37 must be heavier than 440g
- Size 38 must be heavier than 480g
- Size 39 must be heavier than 510g
For Women
- Size 37 must be heavier than 400g
- Size 38 must be heavier than 420g
- Size 39 must be heavier than 440g
SHINAI SIZE REGULATION BY AGE
- Size 37 must be shorter than 114cm
- Size 38 must be shorter than 117cm
- Size 39 must be shorter than 120cm
