A Zekken or Nafuda is a small pouch with an elastic band on the top to be placed over the center flap of a bogu’s tare. Usually, the dojo or location name is presented on the top and the person’s name at the bottom. The center either has the dojo logo, country flag, or the person’s last name in Roman letters, Kanji or Katakana. Hokubei Budogu can help you design your custom logo. 3 options are available: clarino leather, full embroidery, or combining the two techniques. For repeat orders, sensei or dojo manager can contact us to set up a link on our site under the “My Dojo Gear” section, where your members can find your dojo or club, and place an order with us. We will always have your file for replications.

Depending on quantity, the delivery time on the zekken is approximately 2 weeks. 

All our Zekken base is #10,000 Aizome cotton fabric, with an elastic band on the top of the pouch to be held in place.

• Clarino is a synthetic letter, where the individual letters or shapes are cut out and sewn on. This is the most common and traditional style and is recommended. Roman letters, Kanji, or Katakana characters are common. Complicated graphic logos of dojos are not recommended when choosing this option. We suggest full embroidery zekken, or a combination of embroidered logo, and clarino for the letters.
• A fully embroidered zekken is ideal if a graphic logo or a very specific font is needed. Color embroidery is available, but limited to the number of colors. We also have an extended option of 3D embroidery. This is a thicker and denser embroidery technique to make the letter or graphic pop out. Please contact us for this 3D option. 
• Do you want a combination of a classic style and your logo? The clarino and embroidery combo zekken may work best!
